For Immediate Release

The ‘’Caring Together’’ website by artist Frédéric Back is getting a new look and even more educational and interactive content

Discover the whole new educational website dedicated to sharing Frédéric Back’s works, and take a virtual tour of Canada through his illustrations, stories, animated films and more!

Montreal, November 15, 2010 - Atelier Frédéric Back announces its introduction of a whole new look and content for ‘’Caring Together’’, the educational website entirely dedicated to  artist Frédéric Back, two-time Oscar laureate, and to his environmentally and socially conscious work.  Originally launched in 2007, the site and its new features will now provide even more interactive content and will notably explore the artist’s career, document his travels, as well as act as an actual virtual museum and document centre.  Also, it acts as an outstanding resource for anyone who wishes to learn about art, the environment and our beautiful country’s resources.  Moreover, as part of this event, Atelier Frédéric Back invites 10-18 year olds to participate in a poster contest: “Picture a greener future”.

Throughout his impressive career, Frédéric Back successfully raised our awareness about the environmental cause by dedicating his works to the protection of the environment, illustrating Canadian landscapes and lifestyles of our country’s various communities.

‘’Caring Together’’ new interactive content will provide us with even more insight about the artist and will now reveal the entirety of his 5000 works, never revealed before 2007.

World Cultures

The new Web platform includes various sections which look at the different facets of Frédéric Back’s career, such as animated film, illustration and television, not to mention the work he has focused on the environmentalist and community movements, an autobiography of the artist and now a new section: “World Cultures”, with Frédéric as a witness.  His pictorial world illustrates Canada’s aboriginal cultures that were discovered upon his arrival in 1948, from his childhood Alsace, to Bretagne during the war, Mexico, and Europe, explored after the war.  For people of all ages, Holly Gauthier-Frankle lends her voice to Mali, Frédéric’s puppy, to tell the captivating story of his friend’s life with pictures and in 7 episodes.  From his childhood in Alsace and his art education in Bretagne to the 1939-1945 war, his becoming aware of our environment’s fragility, his immigration to Canada and his travels, his imagination and the special effects that have recently been created for television, how he became committed to causes as an artist and finally, the international impact of his works and animated films which have skilfully encouraged us all to “Caring Together”.

To the existing 10 free educational packages, 2 new educational activities have been added:

“Learning about first peoples”: Frédéric discovered their fascinating cultures upon his arrival in Canada, and he encourages young people to join him through his drawings to learn more about them.  As well, “Transportation from yesterday to today” where Frédéric invites kids to travel through time with him in order to compare yesterday’s transportation world to todays.

These free bilingual packages aim to provide tools to parents and teachers who wish to raise their children’s awareness to the environmental cause through Frédéric Back’s works.
